ABOUT THE ROLE

Roofing software is uniformly ugly. We are betting that a brutalist, fast, opinionated design system is a real moat — contractors notice when something feels modern, and homeowners do too when the rep walks in with a tablet.

You will own the design system, partner directly with engineers (not a separate design ops layer), and ship features end-to-end. There is no UI debt closet to clean — there is debt, but you will close it as you ship new work, not as a separate project.

WHAT YOU’LL OWN

→Own the design system across marketing, app, and crew portal. Tokens, components, motion, the works.
→Run weekly design crit. Pull engineers into it.
→Ship Figma files that engineers do not have to interpret. Annotated states, edge cases, content guidelines.
→Pair with marketing on launch moments — page designs, OG cards, demo recordings.
→Talk to customers monthly. We do not design from inside a dark room.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

→5+ years of product design, with at least one role where you owned a design system end-to-end.
→Strong portfolio with shipped work — not just exploration. We want to see the before/after, the metrics, the constraints.
→Comfortable in code: read JSX, ship a Tailwind tweak, run a dev server.
→Good writer. Half of design is naming things and writing the copy.
→Opinions, plus the willingness to lose them when the data argues otherwise.

NICE TO HAVE

+Experience designing for non-tech, field-first users.
+Background in motion design, illustration, or brand.
+Past design system contributions to a public library.

03Design exercise: we share a real ROOF10X flow that needs work, you redesign it. 4 hours, paid.
